House pictures, 07-13-08

Today I had no help...so I didn't accomplish a whole lot. I went over and removed the painters tape from all the painted rooms, which makes it look a lot nicer, I must say! The kitchen walls and Ro's room are done,,,just need to paint all the trim white!!! WOOHOO I must say, it feels nice...just wish it was moving along a little faster!

Oh, and that bare spot going all around the kitchen, that is where the chair rail will go! Hence why it doesn't look finished~! LOL

This week, we will hopefully get the new appliances installed, new doors put in, and I am crossing my fingers that the electrician shows up to do
all the electrical work...new fans, lights, etc. HOPE HOPE HOPE!!! Kyle wants to come RIGHT NOW, so I am anxious to get it done, and get our butts moved in! Tell me whatcha think folks, don't be shy!

Pictures of my little man

These are some newer pics, from the last few weeks. Rowan talking to Dad on the phone, asleep in the car, and playing with a KFC bucket! LOL So, I know it looks like he is always wearing the t-shirts with the silly sayings on them...but rest assured, they are his play clothes! :-) Seems like the cutest pics happen when he is playing, naked, or just wearing some bummy clothes!

As always, leave comments...and tell this Mama how cute her baby bear is! Hehe

Rowan does his animal sounds! 7-11-08

So, listen CAREFULLY! He sounds so quiet, and I sound like I am screaming into the camera! He is learning animal sounds, so watch and listen closely!!!!

progress

I feel like I am slowly making some accomplishments in the house. Tonight, Autumn helped me put the second coat of gold and third coat of red in the kitchen...hopefully we are DONE with the walls!!! I still need to paint the trim and cabinets white, but this project may be put on hold for the time being! I would LOVE to get the trim in Ro's room and the kitchen done before we officially move in, but we'll see. The next room will be the living room, and I am anxious to get in there and get it done!!!
It is taking longer than I had hoped, but I am working around bed time and nap schedule here...Rowan is cutting teeth, so throw that in the mix too! Today, I actually took an hour and got a little nap in! This doesn't happen often, and it was SURE nice!!!

On another note, I have some really exciting news! I called to talk to my step-son the other night, and Angie and I discussed Kyle coming to live with us for the school year!!!! This is something I have prayed for for five years now, and I am totally excited! Jamie and Angie have been discussing the legal issues with all of it, and we will go from there. I will post more about it once it is finalized, as I don't want to jinx us! LOL I am trying not to get my hopes up until it is set in stone. Kyle is really excited, and it is a choice that HE made. I know that it will be a big adjustment for him, and I will need to be very understanding and patient with him. We bought a house in a VERY good school district, and we are only a block from the school. I hope he does well, makes lots of good friends, and gets involved at school. I am going to check into the YMCA sports programs too!!! Please pray for all of us. I guess, for me, the most important issue with this change, is that Rowan and Kyle will finally get the time to enjoy being brothers. How exciting for them, and I love to watch the interaction between them...though, I am SURE there will be times when Rowan is the pesky little brother...and Kyle may teach Rowan some "big boy" stuff! LOL

So, that's it for now. I am going to hit the sheets and pray for some restful sleep tonight.

Hugs and loves!

Dang paint!

I am STILL working on painting the house. Ro's room has been boggling my mind; I cannot get paint to stay on the darn walls!!! Stripes were pretty much ruled out when I removed the painter's tape, only to find that the fresh coats of tan paint did NOT stay on the walls. Instead, I painted the one wall where his crib will be BLUE! It is absolutely gorgeous, and I couldn't be happier with the colors. I got both coats on it today, but when I went to remove the tape...again, it is pulling the paint right off the walls. This is only happening in Rowan's room, so I am stumped!
The kitchen ceilings are really high, so I finally got a ladder today and taped the ceiling. Autumn came over to help me get the edging done. We have the first coat of gold paint on the walls. Tomorrow I plan to edge the second coat and get the second coat done in there...then I will need to paint the trim, and I'll be DONE in there...oh yeah, and the red needs a THIRD coat of paint...

The MBR is done...one room down!!! Once the trim is done in the kitchen and Ro's room, I will move on to the living room and hall. I am saving Kyle's room for last. I am just anxious to get it all done! It seems like it is taking me FORRRRRRRRRRRRRREVER!!!

Wednesday

I am discovering that it is really difficult to get things accomplished these days! Today during Ro's nap, my aunt watched him while I went to the house to paint. I finally managed to get one whole room DONE! WOOHOO!!! The color in the MBR turned out wonderful, and I absolutely love it!
Tonight, Autumn came over to help me get the stripes on Ro's room. We first took all the tape off in the MBR, and I was pleasantly surprised! We did really well at not getting paint anywhere! YAY! Since I am only doing stripes on one wall in Ro's room, we first started with removing all of the other tape in there...well, not so easy! When we pulled the tape off, the paint started to come off the walls again. I was pretty much past the point of aggravated. Basically, I have some bare spots on the walls, and I am terrified to put the tape over the paint to do the stripes, for fear of removing MORE paint! Sooo...looks like we will not have stripes. I am still deciding what to do. I already have the gorgeous blue paint!!! ARGH! Melissa came over for a bit, but couldn't stay long, as her daughter is sick...poor Kayli! I am at a standstill with the rest of the rooms until I can get a ladder tall enough to tape off the ceilings...I have really high ceilings in all the other rooms. I am so anxious to get it all finished, especially the dang kitchen! Hopefully we will get it done by the beginning of next week...BIG GOAL!

house-free day

Today, I took a break from the house. Ro had his 15 month appointment, so we went to Spfld. and did a little house shopping before the doc. I got a picture for the kitchen and found a great deal on frames at Gordman's! I can't wait to see how the picture looks with the colors.
Ro is healthy as a horse, and strong as an ox...he got his shots and has had some diarrhea this evening. I let him stay up late and eat cookies...he was such a trooper today!

Wowza paint!!!

Today Autumn had the day off, so she volunteered to help me ALL DAY! Also, Melissa came over to help when she got off work. Do I have the best friends or what!!!??? We started around 9:30 this morning, and stopped around 7:00 tonight...long, tough day! I am so tired, I think I very well may go to bed with paint all over me! We got the second coat on Ro's room, tell me what you think of the color. We still need to paint the trim white, paint the blue stripes on the wall, paint the door, closet and area between the two bedrooms...however, we ran out of the paint!!!

We started on the kitchen so that we can get the appliances in. I loved the bottom, the red color (chianti to be exact), but I did not like the Thistle green above it (see picture behind stove). I love the color, but together it looked like Christmas! YIKES! So, I decided to go with the gold color instead (my first instinct), and I will use the two shades of green in Kyle's bedroom. Be honest, tell me what you think!!! I am going for the Tuscany look, think grapes and wine. I think it will look sharp when it is finished!!!

The last picture of the kitchen shows the bottom finished, but the top still needs a second coat. We were exhausted and needed to STOP! We need to paint around the cabinets also.
My goal: finish the kitchen upper coat, put second coat on sam

e, and get second coat on the master bedroom. I also need to do all that I listed above, to Ro's room. THEN, I will tackle all the other rooms! AHHH, I need a nap just thinking about it!
